The Minister for Energy and Enterprise, Miriam Dalli and Finance Minister Clyde Caruana have announced that the wage supplement scheme for employers affected by COVID-19 will continue until June, after which it will be gradually reduced before ending in December 2021.
The €200 million package will help employers with wage costs and will keep into account catering establishments that will have to operate exclusively as take-away until April 11. Restaurateurs will receive the maximum amount of aid possible (€800 a month per employee), while those already benefiting from the scheme will continue receiving it according to the category of aid that workers qualify for.
Minister Dalli also confirmed that Malta Enterprise will launch a micro-invest scheme, to help 860 companies invest and expand their operations.
