At Grant Thornton Malta, giving back to the community is not something we serve for a single day of the year. It is an ongoing commitment that reflects our belief that businesses have a meaningful role to play in creating positive social impact. That commitment came to life once again this year during our annual firm-wide CSR Day, where we saw our people support The Malta Trust Foundation with their fundraising efforts towards Ta' Saura National Empowerment Hub.


On this day, colleagues from across every service line and team stepped away from their desks and came together with a common purpose, contributing their time, energy and collective efforts towards a project that is making a tangible difference within the community. 

The day was officially opened by Grant Thornton Malta’s Managing Partner, George Vella, alongside Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, Founder and Executive Chairperson of The Malta Trust Foundation, who welcomed employees and highlighted the importance of collaboration between the business and voluntary sectors in supporting community initiatives.

The task ahead was ambitious but the team quickly rose to the challenge. Throughout the day, employees worked side by side to sort, organise and prepare hundreds of donated items at the Ta’ Saura National Empowerment Hub.

Boxes were carefully moved from storage areas, unpacked and stored into dedicated categories ranging from clothing, books and toys to household goods and other essential items. Once organised, the donations were repacked, labelled and transferred to designated storage areas. These items will be sold during the Thrift Market at Rabat Sacrum on 19 and 20 September, with proceeds supporting the ongoing work and initiatives of The Malta Trust Foundation.

This successful day required significant teamwork, coordination and commitment. More importantly, it created an opportunity for colleagues from different departments, professions and backgrounds to work together in an entirely different setting, united by a shared objective.

 

We spend much of our days looking after our clients and their needs, but today, we’re giving back to our community in a different way — through our time. Let’s lend a helping hand. Our contribution may be a small drop in the ocean of what this foundation needs, but every little bit makes a difference. We’ll continue to support their important work throughout the year.

While the day’s achievements were significant, the relationship between Grant Thornton Malta and the Ta’ Saura National Empowerment Hub extends far beyond a single CSR event. Since January 2026, Grant Thornton Malta’s Business Consulting Services (BCS) team has been supporting the project through a range of pro bono professional services. This support has included the preparation of business plans to assist in the project’s development and presentation, alongside ongoing guidance as the Hub’s requirements and ambitions continued to evolve.

That existing relationship gave this year’s CSR Day an even greater meaning. 

 

The result was a day that reflected the very essence of Grant Thornton’s GT in the Community initiative: using our time, expertise and collective effort to support organisations that are creating meaningful and lasting impact.

Through initiatives such as these, Grant Thornton Malta remains committed to building stronger communities, supporting organisations that make a difference, and creating opportunities for our people to contribute in ways that extend beyond the workplace.

Together, we are proud to continue turning purpose into action through GT in the Community.
