In an industry that is constantly evolving, staying ahead of the curve is not just an advantage - it’s a necessity.

The yachting industry is no exception. With the introduction of the Small Commercial Yacht Code (sCYC), we are witnessing a significant shift in the regulatory landscape for small commercial yachts under 24 meters in length.

Following extensive consultation, the Merchant Shipping Directorate has unveiled the sCYC in accordance with Commercial Yachting Notice 12. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to cater to the specific needs, demands, and technological advancements within the yachting industry, while ensuring adherence to safety and international standards.

The sCYC is applicable to all commercial yachts under 24 meters in length. Existing commercial yachts under 24 meters, already certified under the Commercial Yacht Code (CYC), must comply with the sCYC requirements no later than the yacht’s first renewal survey conducted after 1st June 2024.

The sCYC supersedes and replaces the provisions outlined for yachts under 24 meters in the CYC 2020. It is important to note that sCYC Certified Yachts operating commercially in the territorial waters of other countries must adhere to any additional requirements stipulated by those specific countries/port states.

Remember, the sea of change is vast, but together, we can navigate it successfully. Stay anchored for more updates and insights on the future of small commercial yachting.
