Being a member of the People and Culture team, and reporting to the Associate Director, People and Culture, the successful candidate’s primary focus shall be to spearhead the  Learning and Development initiatives within the Firm.  The Learning and Development Executive has to embrace the fact that we are a multi-cultural and diverse community of professionals and therefore the Executive must apply a mind-set that is appropriate for this role, flexible in approach, sensitive to the learning requirements of people and display a collaborative spirit with the rest of the team. As a firm, we strongly believe that the client experience we offer must emanate from the people experience of our Employees, and therefore this function has an extremely important role within our organisation.   


In general the successful candidate will carry out the following range of duties:


  • Responsible for the orientation and induction training of new joiners on a regular basis
  • On a regular basis carries out a proper training needs analysis for each service line together with a list of devise learning options for each one
  • Organises internal learning both on technical matters as well as personal development matters
  • Organises external training initiatives, based on the competencies of the firm and its trainers, as well as the exigencies of its clients
  • Generates new ideas about learning and development, with the help of key employees
  • Measures learning and development retention and determine leaning outcomes for each initiative 
  • Contributes to the interns training programme and takes responsibility for its execution
  • Submits EU funding applications, reimbursement documentation and other documentation required for the successful acceptance of the grants.
  • Holds discussions with the marketing team about advertising of the firm’s learning portfolio
  • Holds a close relationship with trainees (both external and internal), trainers (both external and internal), Grant Thornton International, the Malta Institute of Accountants, Jobsplus and various other stakeholders
  • Understands how a successful learning and development function contributes to our employee net promoter score, engagement index, people experience index and psychological safety index
  • Performs other duties for People and Culture, as part of the team



Personal attributes


  • Above all, the person must be an excellent team player, including a good dose of humility but also assertiveness, when necessary
  • Preferably the candidate has formal qualifications, in the areas of human resource management, learning and development and/or organisational psychology
  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, including the proper use of Ms Office tools
  • The applicant must be familiar with the more common virtual learning tools
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both English and Maltese language, orally and in writing
  • Must have excellent presentation skills, both in person and virtually
  • The candidate must be passionate about learning and development, willing to keep learning and share knowledge
