Your trainers
Andrew is an Executive at Grant Thornton engaged in the Transaction Advisory Services, a department specialising in corporate finance. He holds a Masters degree in Accountancy from the University of Malta. He has submitted a dissertation titled “Crowdfunding as an Alternative Source of Finance for Maltese Local Councils” in part-fulfilment of the degree. Andrew joined the advisory team on a full-time basis in July 2018. Within the team, his work primarily involves economics and corporate finance related projects. Consequently, he has worked on various market research, product development costings, economic impact assessments, risk analyses and business plans for private sector clients. He is also involved in the preparation of financial feasibility studies for private sector clients whilst also assisting government entities with financial feasibility studies and cost-benefits analyses for several projects, including the Malta Aviation Masterplan. Furthermore, he is also involved in supporting the drafting of Company Admission Documents for clients listing on Prospects MTF, a multi-lateral trading platform operated by the Malta Stock Exchange. In November 2020, Andrew commenced with working on compliance and internal audit related projects, both for private and public sector organisations. During his time at Grant Thornton, he was seconded for five months to the Malta Gaming Authority and two months to STC, where he assisted with process documentation and general accounting processes respectively.
Bernard presently forms part of the Advisory team at Grant Thornton Malta. Having pursued his studies at the University of Malta, he majored in Accountancy and Economics as part of a Bachelor of Commerce course. He went on to further his studies in Accountancy, graduating with a Master in 2018. His dissertation, titled 'Healthcare Systems in Europe and their Relevance to Malta: A Comparative Analysis’, is currently under peer review at Public Money and Management and the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management. After graduating, Bernard joined up with Grant Thornton, where he predominantly focuses on business plans, feasibility studies, valuations and carrying out financial due diligence exercises for a diversified portfolio of Maltese and overseas clients. He is also routinely roped in to assist the Economic Advisory team with a variety of engagements. During his time with the firm, Bernard has been responsible for the design and execution of a long-term data monitoring and assessment project with Primary Healthcare; the development of a research contribution mechanism from importers, distributors and producers of medical cannabis in Malta; as well as multiple feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
