Earlier today (October, 31) the Transitional National Council (TNC) elected sixty year old Abdurrahim El-Keib as Libya’s interim prime minister with 26 out of 51 votes. Contrary to expectations, economist Ali Tarhouni is reported to have obtained 3 or 4 votes. Unconfirmed reports say that the second biggest number of votes, 19, went to Mustafa Al-Roujbani. Professor El-Keib is a distinguished academic with an impressive record of refereed publications in the field of the economics, planning, operation and control of electrical power systems. He joined the University of Alabama as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in 1985 and became Full Professor in 1996. Read his CV.
