Strategic performance review

Our strategic performance review is aimed at organisations of all sizes that are seeking to improve operational or financial performance. It develops business strategies to preserve and enhance shareholder value.

Our objective is to provide proactive support to improve profitability and competitiveness and restore value to the business. We focus on identifying sources of performance improvement whilst respecting management's wish to incur minimum costs and disruption.

We offer a flexible service divided into four discrete stages.

Stage I - Initial Assessment
By working closely with your management team during the assessment stage, we can identify the potential benefits of a Strategic Performance Review. There will be no charge for this initial consultation phase irrespective of whether you decide to proceed to the next stage or not.

Stage 2 - Strategic Analysis
Grant Thornton will provide a team of specialists to undertake a preliminary strategic analysis of the business. This will typically involve:

• a diagnostic analysis of recent financial performance
• a high level review of your current strategy
• an overview of key market developments, sector drivers and competitive positioning
• an initial assessment of the turnaround or business development potential.

Stage 3 - Detailed Business Evaluation
Stage 2 provides a basis from which to develop a detailed business evaluation, giving management clear recommendations and action plans designed to meet the needs of the business and its stakeholders. This will involve assessing:

• the strategic position of your business and the options available
• the financial and operational risks of alternative strategies
• the operational efficiency of your business
• the qualities of your management team
• the quality of your management information systems
• the preparation of a critique of financial forecasts underpinning the adopted strategy
• working capital management
• the appropriate financing requirements and funding structure.

In addition, we will provide assistance in negotiating the basis of future support with financial stakeholders.

Stage 4 - Strategy Implementation and Support
We can also provide on-going support in the form of:

• hands-on assistance with strategy implementation by our team of specialists
• regular liaison with the providers of finance
• a monitoring service to assess operational and financial performance
• facilitation of management meetings to review development opportunities.
