Wayne Pisani is director of Corporate Services at Grant Thornton in Malta.

He is a practicing lawyer and member of the Malta Institute of Financial Services Practitioners and conducts an active consulting practice in financial, corporate, commercial and fiscal law, these being his main areas of expertise.   He advises on the legal implications involved in the structuring of both local and international M&A and project finance transactions including ancillary regulated financial products as well as credit, insurance and financial institutions, providing the necessary legal assistance further to banking, investment and insurance licensing procedures. Apart from these main areas of practice, he has also delivered expert legal advice in a range of areas dealing with the real estate and construction industries representing investors, building contractors, construction engineers, architects, designers, venture capitalists, financing institutions, property vendors and purchasers.  Furthermore he was consulted to assist policy makers in the drafting of related regulations. As part of his legal practice he has also assisted domestic and international clients with their legal needs further to liability issues, health & safety matters and personal injury aspects.

In his current capacity, Wayne advises an extensive international client base.  He is also responsible for the day to day management of Grant Thornton Fiduciaire Limited, a licensed nominee, fiduciary and trustee services provider authorized by the Malta Financial Services Authority.  His areas of responsibility include corporate services, fiduciary ownership registration, protection of assets, trust and foundation formation, international tax planning, advising and planning regarding proper tax jurisdictions, drafting of domestic and international agreements, banking assistance, advice and assistance in all aspects of banking and financial transactions, formation and domiciliation of companies, registration of branches and representative offices, corporate restructuring, antitrust advice, mergers and acquisitions of business, arranging for joint ventures and partnerships, fiduciary trading, financing transactions, real estate sale and acquisition, assistance in immigration issues including work permits and Maltese residence permits, and assistance in establishing relations with private and public authorities throughout Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Wayne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal and Humanistic Studies (cum laude), a Masters in Financial Services and a Doctorate in Laws, all from the University of Malta. He was admitted to the Chamber of Advocates of Malta in 2001 of that year. Wayne has been invited to be a joint contributing author to European Competition Laws: A Guide to the EC and its Member States, the leading legal compendium with respect to Competition law in Europe, published by Lexis Nexis and revised annually.
