Austin is the Partner for Tax Services. He joined the firm in 1982 as an articled clerk. In 1988-1990, he was seconded to the then Deloitte Haskins Sells firm in Milan, Italy, where he was engaged on audits of a broad range of companies.
Austin Demajo was admitted Partner of Grant Thornton in 1993 and appointed Head of Tax Services in 1995. In 1996 he was instrumental in setting up the firm’s International Services arm.
Austin attended courses on International Taxation in the United Kingdom.
He is a Council Member of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners, a member of the Tax Experts Group of Finance Malta and a member of the Direct Tax Committee of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Austin is a Fellow of The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and a Certified Public Accountant. He also obtained a diploma as financial advisor from the Society of Financial Advisors (UK).
He is a regular contributor to the CCH Value Added Tax Compliance Manual and is presently developing the “International Tax and Foreign Direct Investment” module for the MSc in Investment Promotion & Economic Development course at Napier University, Edinburgh. |
