Martin Bonello-Cole

Martin Bonello-Cole is the Managing Partner of Grant Thornton in Malta. He has been in public practice as a Certified Public Accountant for some 30 years. 

He worked in London with accounting firms, Wright Stevens and Lloyd and with Deloitte Haskins and Sells, where he was involved in assurance assignments covering a wide range of clients, large and small. In Malta, his auditing experience has been extensive with clients in the utilities, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, insurance and other sectors.

In the latter half of his professional career, apart from being responsible for a audit clients, Martin has been involved in consulting assignments of a multi-disciplinary nature, including business planning and strategy, corporate recovery and restructuring, corporate finance, as well as  mergers and acquisitions.

In the late eighties, Martin was commissioned by Deloitte Haskins and Sells to set up offices in Cairo to service Deloitte’s multinational clients with a base in Egypt.

In 1995 Martin was assigned an 18- month consulting appointment with Grant Thornton Turkey to assist in the firm’s business development strategy and implementation.

Outside of public accounting practice, Martin has served as executive chairman of Enemalta Corporation, and non-executive chairman of Union Press Limited and Union Print Limited. He is currently a member of the Education, Regulatory and Disciplinary Committees of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

Martin is a Fellow of The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, a Fellow of The Malta Institute of Accountants and a Certified Public Accountant.
