Margaret Bonello-Cole joined the firm in 1975 and has been responsible for the planning and supervision of audit assignments for many years.
Over the last 40 years she has worked on a very wide range of audits both in the public and private sectors. Public sector assignments include Malta Government Departments, Agencies, Authorities and para-statal bodies. Some examples are Planning Authority, Housing Authority, Lotteries and Gaming Authority, Telemalta, Sea Malta, Financial Services Authority, National Cargo Handling, Malta Oil Bunkering, local councils and co-operatives. Her private sector assignments for listed, multinational and local entities have been extremely varied and include manufacturing, retail, agriculture, construction, hotels, gaming, shipping, hospitality and the leisure industry. Financial sector assignments include insurance, benevolent funds, investor and depositor compensation schemes, foreign banks, investment funds and finance leasing.
Margaret has a thorough knowledge of auditing, IPSAS, IFRSs and ISAs and is responsible for technical development. She was actively involved in the writing and preparation of the Malta Government Accounting Standards and, for this purpose, carried out extensive research on accrual accounting for governments.
In her long career she has also taken part in consultancy and multi-discipline assignments such as business planning, feasibility projects, fraud investigations, acquisitions and due diligence reports.
