Role at Grant Thornton: Transaction Advisory Services Junior Associate.

Grant Thornton offers a holistic experience to its members, with high levels of skilled and professional people. This helps students to become familiar with the work commitments involved and allows us to enhance our experience with hands-on work, coupled with ongoing training and relentless support by team members. Each intern is also assigned a buddy who would monitor their progress and assist on a day-to-day basis.

Grant Thornton differs from other firms operating in the same segment as it is not only well established, but it has a very strong reputation both with clients and within the industry. It really takes time to listen and understand the exact needs of the clients, and then work a personalised solution for them, often adding extra value along the way. This requires a high degree of research to make sure that the right advise and proposals is put forward, which I found very exciting to contribute to. Another plus of Grant Thornton is that for most projects experts from the various service lines, thus ensuring a more comprehensive approach and ultimately a better service delivery. For me as an intern, this meant that whilst I was primarily assigned to the Transaction Advisory Services unit, I still got a good understanding of what the other service lines do.

I strongly believe that the internship experience that Grant Thornton offers, together with what we learn at university, will provide a sound platform to kickstart my career. Grant Thornton in particular will further help me develop skills that go beyond the technical element. I then hope to become a full time member of the team and keep developing my potential.
